At Glen Briar Academy, we are proud to be a Candidate School* for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP). The IB PYP framework supports students in becoming active participants in their learning through meaningful, real-world exploration across subject areas. As we move forward in pursuing authorization as an IB World School, we share a common philosophy with other IB educational institutions; a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that we believe is important for our students.

What is the IB Primary Years Programme?

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) is a globally recognized educational framework for students aged 3–12 that nurtures the development of the whole child through inquiry, collaboration, and meaningful learning experiences. The programme empowers students to become curious, knowledgeable, and caring learners by fostering academic, social, emotional, and personal growth.



The PYP inspires students to ask meaningful questions, think critically, take ownership of their learning, and make authentic connections between the classroom and the world around them. Through inquiry-based, transdisciplinary learning, students develop the knowledge, skills, and attributes required to become confident, compassionate, and lifelong learners.
